The Mets have recalled infielder/outfielder Nick Evans from Binghamton and optioned outfielder Fernando Martinez to Buffalo.
Evans, 23, was hitting .323 in June with nine multi-hit games for the B-Mets. Since June 4th, he’s batting .377 (20-53) with seven doubles, one triple, two home runs, and seven RBI. Overall, the righthanded batter was hitting .276 (29-105) [...]

Oliver Perez is heading to the bullpen and 40-year-old rookie Ken Takahashi is going to the rotation.
Takahashi looked good in his major-league debut Saturday, working 2 2-3 scoreless innings, allowing only one hit.
Perez, meanwhile has looked like a $36 million bust this season, going 1-2 with a 9.97 ERA.

The Mets are keeping Dwight Gooden’s signature — but moving it to another location and putting it under Plexiglass.

Don’t expect to watch the first pitch of tomorrow night’s Mets-Marlins game on TV. It won’t be on.
The game at Dolphin Stadium is scheduled to start at 6:25 p.m. That’s during Fox’s exclusive Saturday national telecast window, which prevents local broadcasts of games scheduled to start from 1:10-7 p.m.

It’s looking like the Mets’ rotation could be Johan Santana, Mike Pelfrey, John Maine, Oliver Perez and Livan Hernandez.
Hernandez, who went 13-11 with a 6.05 ERA last year between Minnesota and Colorado, pitched five solid innings in a minor-league game Monday, allowing a run and five hits with seven strikeouts.

Here’s the latest on Johan Santana, and it looks good.
Santana pitched against Mets minor-leaguers for four innings today in his second outing since knee surgery. He allowed two runs and six hits in four innings, striking out five and walking none. He gave up three doubles and threw 40 of 56 pitches for strikes.

Citi Field is proving to be a hot ticket.
Tickets for the Mets’ April 3-4 exhibition games against the Boston Red Sox at Citi Field sold out this morning in 45 minutes.
The Mets Foundation will donate the net proceeds from ticket sales from these games to the Police Athletic League and other area charities.

Oliver Perez and the Mets have reached a preliminary agreement on a $36 million, three-year contract, the Associated Press is reporting.

Minor-league second baseman Kyle Suire was suspended 50 games following a positive test under the sport’s minor league drug program.
