Event Worth Your Time: Greg Prince’s Book Party
Posted By Howard Megdal On December 12, 2012 @ 12:43 pm In Today's Mets headlines | Comments Disabled
Full disclosure: I consider Greg Prince a friend. But I have plenty of friends who don’t consistently write things worth reading. Greg is not one of them.
So I highly recommend that you head out to Foley’s New York this Saturday and listen to Greg read from his new book, The Happiest Recap. Below is information, and later this month, Greg and I will discuss the book further.
If you aren’t reading him, along with the fantastic Jason Fry, at Faith and Fear in Flushing , I urge you to start immediately.
Here’s the info from Greg.
The Happiest Recap: First Base (1962-1973), by Greg Prince, the author of the fan memoir Faith and Fear in Flushing and co-author of the blog of the same name, is the first of a four-volume series detailing the first 50 years of the New York Mets through 500 Amazin’ wins. First Base covers the Mets Classic period, in which the Mets are born, slowly begin to figure things out, enjoy a miraculous growth spurt, regress some and, finally, rise once more to unanticipated heights. 127 games, 127 wins. How often can a Mets fan find legitimate results in which the Mets never lose?
Published by Banner Day Press, available on Amazon:
Future volumes will be titled Second Base (1974-1986); Third Base (1987-1999); and Home (2000 & Beyond). Each will be released during 2013.
On Saturday, December 15, noon to 2 PM, there will be a launch party for The Happiest Recap series at Foley’s NY, 18 W. 33rd St., between 5th and 6th. Books will be available for purchase, with a portion of proceeds going to help replenish necessities at East Elementary School in Long Beach, where the author attended third grade, played stickball badly and wandered by last August as Ike Davis hit a game-winning home run.
The details, as posted on FAFIF:
FYI, my story on going home again, to Long Beach, twice in 2012—before and after the storm:
Anything you can do to help spread the word about a book (born from a blog series that ran in 2011) that I think every Mets fan would love to read would be greatly appreciated.
