Where Things Stand

Greetings from an A&P parking lot! I am coming to you through the courtesy of the chain’s WiFi signal. Hope some of you, at least, have more power than I do, currently. It’s a low bar to clear.
In Mets news, the team exercised options on both David Wright and R.A. Dickey. This would have been a catastrophic mistake otherwise; the team can certainly trade them both if they choose, rather than let them go for nothing. (Like some shortstops we knew.)
Whether they extend them both, trade them both, or keep only Wright all appear to be possibilities. No reports have them close to a deal with Wright, but the sides are negotiating; right now, there’s no movement being reported on Dickey at all.
Obviously, as this develops, I’ll be keeping you up to date.
In the meantime, power permitting, we’ll be discussing some of the other Mets’ potential targets. Miguel Olivo, Melky Cabrera… think 99 cent store.
And yes, David Wright should have won a Gold Glove last night. But are you surprised that a fielding metric that consistently rewards Derek Jeter might have some bugs in it?
