Just a note to let you know how to get your Mets-related baseball fix right now: move to Arizona.
That may sound extreme. But a number of Mets farmhands are playing for the Surprise Saguros, and it’s going to reach the 90s, with no humdity, all week there. So you really ought to consider it.
It’s early, but some standout Mets include Cesar Puello, with five hits in 14 at-bats plus a pair of steals, Darrell Ceciliani, who has homered, and pitcher Chase Huchingson, who already posted a pair of scoreless innings.
For those of you looking to go a bit further abroad in search of baseball, Wilmer Flores has five hits, including a home run, for Bravos de Margarita in Venezuela. Jeurys Familia will soon start for Gigantes del Cibao of the Domincan Republic. And Jordany Valdespin walked twice-TWICE!- in his first game for Tigres del Licey in the Dominican Republic’s winter league. Come for the baseball, stay for the swine and poultry production.
Alas, these trips aren’t in the budget for me, so my offseason fix involves heavy doses of Baseball Mogul 2013, which I cannot recommend highly enough.
