No, I won’t sit here and criticize the Mets for acquiring Kelly Shoppach now, rather than before Josh Thole was forced into everyday use and Mike Nickeas/Rob Johnson played.
They added the perfect righty complement to Thole going forward. Let’s hope they follow up by bringing him back for 2013.
They have a lot of holes. Shoppach/Thole defensively wouldn’t be great, but should be good for a better than league average bat as a strict platoon next year.
Kudos. And obviously, if the Player To Be Named Later turns out to be, say, Matt Harvey, I will revisit. But it won’t be. Seriously, don’t worry.

Red Sox players hate Valentine. He won’t let them smoke, drink, inject drugs, or play cards in the dugout during games and he expects them to run out ground balls. What a bunch of overpaid, pampered losers! The Mets might suck, but there’s not one of them who doesn’t hustle and give his best, offense and defense.
