Initial Season Ticket Information Released

The Mets announced that a large number of ticket prices will be reduced in 2012 for season ticket holders in a press release this afternoon.
From their release, this is the breakdown:
The majority of Season Ticket Holders will pay less for their seats in 2012:
· 80% of seats will have a reduction of approximately 5% or greater
· 57% of seats will have a reduction of 10% or greater
· 35% will have a cut of 20% or more
· 18% will have a drop of 30% or more
· More than 15,000 seats will cost less than $25 per game
The other major news from the release: dynamic pricing. What this means, in essence, is that the Mets can raise or drop prices to individual games, depending on demand. Of course, this has already been happening on Stubhub.com, leading to tremendous values along with the ability to choose your own seat. Clearly, the Mets want in on that revenue, and who can blame them?
And yet… they have said those prices will never drop below what season ticket holders pay per game. So with tickets available in the single digits at Stubhub for much of the year, and well below face value in nearly every section, it isn’t yet clear that the change will move enough people from the secondary to primary ticket market. Credit for trying, however.
There’s also a bunch of perks for season ticket holders, and even a “select your seat” event at Citi Field from November 17-19 to upgrade. I will inquire, but I believe this only affects season ticket holders, not partial plan holders.
Will have more info later this evening.
