The Mets nominated Jose Reyes as the team’s representative in the fan voting for the Hank Aaron Award, given to the best hitter in each league.
What, you thought maybe Willie Harris?
Voting takes place here through October 9. No, if Reyes is leading after the first day, he can’t sit out the rest of the vote.
Strangest names on there? Mike Morse and Mark Trumbo. You’d have won a lot of bets with those two.

Wish the voting took place after the World Series. Maybe some of the voters will forget his last game of the season. It’s still a bad taste in people’s mouths. If he doesn’t win it, I’ll interpret the voting as a protest against what he did, even if he got the batting title and led the NL for a good portion of the season.
Uh, he ain’t no Hank Aaron. And neither of the rest of them.
If it helps any, Luis, I’m pretty sure the winner doesn’t need to assume Hank Aaron’s identity.
Then call it the “I ain’t no Henry Aaron, and Never Will Be, but I Had a Pretty Good Year” award.
That’s hard to fit on a trophy.
