Come October, I think it is safe to say that we won’t be watching the Mets in the 2011 playoffs. But if you like to live in the past, as I do, there’s no reason why you can’t watch the Mets in the playoffs next month- as long as those playoffs are from 1986.
A&E is now selling a DVD of Baseball’s Greatest Games: Game 6, 1986 World Series. You might know it as the game that inspired a fantastic Curb Your Enthusiasm episode.
I’ll be giving away two copies of the DVD this week. Here’s how to qualify for the giveaway:
2. On our Facebook wall, post your essay of 50 words or less on the following topic: What Does Nick Evans Mean to Me?
You’ll be glad you did. My Nick Evans essay is below, as a guideline. Please don’t plagiarize it for your essay, as I’ll know where it came from.
Nick Evans is a tremendous hitter who had been buried by Omar Minaya. The player I first saw on the back fields at Port St. Lucie is finally getting a chance to contribute. My wife has an Evans shirt; it makes me like both Evans and my wife more.
Good luck! And to follow all our posts on Twitter, follow us @lohudmets.

For starters, Nick Evans has never been mean to me. A serviceable, slow, somnambulistic fill in bench player who, at Citi or wherever he goes, will remain, for a career, a serviceable, slow, somnambulistic fill in bench player.
P.S. – Send my DVD prize to Danny Heep.
I think Nick Evans has not been given a real chance and the mets need all the help and chances they can get
Evans can be given a “real” chance to tear it up in Triple A. Until he does so successfullly, he’s not even a notable minor league player. Where’s Dave Kingman now that they’ve built a park for him?
