The Mets are off today before starting three with the Athletics at Citi Field tomorrow night. More on the A’s in a bit, but first, I wanted to let you know about a couple of events in the community that allow you to do some good and get your Mets fix at the same time.
This Wednesday, June 22, New York Blood Center and Clarkstown Central School District are offering the chance to donate blood and receive a pair of Mets tickets. In other words, you give blood you don’t need anyway, someone else who desperately needs it gets it, and you get a night at Citi Field. That’s like a trade where everyone gets Nolan Ryan and no one gets Jim Fregosi.
The event takes place from 11 AM to 5 PM at 62 Old Middletown Road, New City, NY, in the Board Room. For more information, contact Sue Sherlock at (845) 620-2016.
And next month, Ike Davis will headline a dinner at Michael’s Restaurant in Brooklyn to help raise money for the charity Solving Kids’ Cancer. The event will be hosted by ESPN’s Lina Cohn, and takes place at 7 PM on Sunday, July 17. The night includes dinner, drinks, a full Q and A with the guests, a signed baseball item from Ike, and other perks as well.
Hope you’ll consider attending both events.
