When I heard about the passing of Dana Brand, I puzzled over how to properly honor him. I had been looking forward to seeing him on June 16 at the Tappan Free Library, and I realized that no one would get the opportunity to hear him that night if I didn’t do something.
So I reached out to the library, and offered both my services and those of Greg Prince, author of Faith and Fear in Flushing and another friend of Dana’s (wasn’t everyone?). They accepted, so on Thursday, June 16 at 7 PM, the two of us will offer the consolation prize of getting to hear Dana’s work, but through us, sadly, instead of Dana.
I’d urge all of you to attend, whether you knew Dana’s work or will be exposed to it for the first time. I look forward to sharing some of my favorites.

Howard – Kudos to both you and Greg. That’s a great tribute. You should record it and make it available in encore on the web. – John
