Breaking Mets News: Wright Latest to Break, Needs Break

The news is not great from Citi Field this afternoon: David Wright was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his back. The Mets are seeking a second opinion, but right now they believe ten days of rest should heal it.
I will point out the silver lining here: Wright wasn’t hitting at all like himself, and if this gets him healthy long-term, it is a good thing.
As far as if this doesn’t heal, and the Mets need longer-term solutions: Daniel Murphy can always play third base, though that requires Ike Davis to return to the field. If both Davis and Wright are out for longer than expected, Nick Evans can come up from Triple-A. The problem for Evans is that he hasn’t been hitting in Buffalo-just .248/.285/.383 this season.
And while this would be less-than-ideal for a bunch of reasons, Ruben Tejada has been tremendous so far at Triple-A. The Mets could play Justin Turner at third, Tejada at second at Murphy at first. Or Murphy at second, Turner at third and Evans at first.
The point is, naturally, the Mets need Wright and Davis back, and soon. Angel Pagan wouldn’t hurt, either, before Jason Pridie turns into a pumpkin.
The Mets haven’t placed Wright on the DL yet. But I find it hard to believe they will play short-handed for ten days. That hasn’t been the way this management team has operated.
