Sure, the Mets lost in Colorado, 2-1 last night. Offense is generally considered to be 12% juiced by the Colorado air, meaning in a sea level ballpark, the Mets would have produced somewhere around .88 runs. So things could be worse.
Also, Chris Young is almost certainly out for the season, thanks to a torn capsule in his shoulder. And Jenrry Mejia, the team’s prized pitching prospect (in part because of how few they have), will have Tommy John surgery, which makes him… the Stephen Strasburg of New York? One can hope, anyway.
But you- you can win a free, signed copy of my new book, Taking The Field! It is just out today. Here’s a video with some additional details about how the book came to be. But how do you get a free copy?
It is so simple. Like us on Facebook.
Look, the LoHud Yankees Blog has 1,859 Likes on Facebook. The Mets blog? 24. That is unacceptable. By not liking us, you are confirming everything the Yankee fans you work with say about both the New York Mets and their fans (including the unprintable things). In essence, every moment you don’t like this page on Facebook is a tacit way of you declaring, “Count Da Ringzz!” How can you live with yourself?
Over the next few days, I’ll be selecting people at random who like this page, and sending them a copy of Taking The Field. It is the story of how I ran for the office of General Manager of the New York Mets last year while raising my daughter as a baseball fan. I hope you enjoy it.
As for the moral component of giving people stuff in exchange for liking us… I’m okay with that.
