For Mets fans seeking a silver lining to a bit of a gray week, look no further than sunny Binghamton, where Jeurys Familia will make his debut after a sizzling start at high-A St. Lucie.
I had the chance to see Familia throw in spring training, and his stuff is utterly spectacular. But the road to independent ball is paved with guys who could throw hard, and never developed the ability to pitch. Fortunately, Mets prospect guru Rob Castellano has the lowdown on exactly why and how Familia succeeded in Single-A.
It is refreshing to see the Mets treating an electric arm like something to nurture, instead of rushing him to the big leagues in lieu of learning how to pitch.

What’s up with Ike and Beltran? They both look like they’ve put on 30 lbs. each since Spring Training.
