Carlos Beltran will finally be rejoining the Mets tonight when they take on the San Francisco Giants starting at 10:15. With the logjam in the outfield, expect to see Jeff Francoeur riding the pine and Angel Pagan manning right field. Jerry Manuel has said he’ll use Francoeur when a lefty is pitching. That’s not the case tonight as R.A. Dickey faces off against Tim Lincecum.
In other rehab news, Luis Castillo played in his first game Wednesday since going on the disabled list for two sore feet. He went 0-for-2 with a run scored in five innings. In the same game, Ryota Igarashi pitched two scoreless innings but had to escape trouble when he loaded the bases with one out. He did strike out the other two batters in that inning, but his command is still something to be desired.
In the “remember him?” category, Sean Green pitched for the first time during a Gulf Coast League game. He pitched a scoreless inning, striking out one and walking one, according to ESPN New York’s Adam Rubin.
