Mets win 9th straight at home in walk-off fashion

Mike Pelfrey pitched another gem as he threw the equivalent of a complete game and kept the San Diego Padres to one run. After surrendering that run in the first inning, he was superb going nine innings.
It was looking like another outing where a lack of run production could have stymied another great pitching performance. That was not to be as Ike Davis hit the walk-off homer, his only hit of the game, to put the Mets up 2-1 in the bottom of the 11th inning. It was the third walk-off of the year and all of them were won with a home run.
Jose Reyes got the Mets on the board in the seventh inning with another solo shot that had to be reviewed. It was just his second home run of the season. He went 2-for-4 with a walk.
The game almost was won in the bottom of the 10th when Angel Pagan hit a shot to right that a fan interfered with. It turned out it landed just below the orange line, so Pagan was kept to a triple. However, with two outs, Jason Bay grounded out, completing an 0-for-5 night including three strikeouts.
Pelfrey didn’t allow a walk and struck out six on 103 pitches. He got the no-decision so he is still 8-1 on the season with a 2.23 ERA. He is undefeated at Citi Field.
The Mets are now four games over .500. Johan Santana tries to keep the streak going Wednesday night. I sound like a broken record, but the Mets must score behind him.
