Despite stiffness, Pelfrey expected to make next start

CINCINNATI (AP) — Right-hander Mike Pelfrey is still expected to make his next scheduled start for the New York Mets, even though he had some tightness in his shoulder the last time out.
Manager Jerry Manuel said Tuesday that Pelfrey would go easier during his between-starts workout in the bullpen this week, but has no other restrictions. He’s scheduled to pitch Friday in New York against the Giants. Manuel hasn’t thought about skipping the start to give him more rest.
Pelfrey had a precautionary MRI before the Mets opened their series in Cincinnati, making sure there was no injury to his shoulder. He felt some stiffness in his start last Saturday in Philadelphia.
