The Mets are on a 7-game winning streak. They have taken over first place in NL East. Yet, on TV all I see are empty seats in the stands. This team took a beating in the offseason, PR-wise. And they got off to a really slow start.
But now that they are winning, why aren’t you going to the games? Is it convenience? High ticket prices? The weather?

We are. We’ll be going on Mother’s Day. Why haven’t we been there yet? The prices are expensive for a family of 4, so we go to just a couple of games per year.
It doesn’t matter how well the team is playing if they make it too expensive for the average family to afford to go. They’ve priced out their most loyal customers.
Are you kidding? Met’s fans have been given the once over by the team and its owners for the last few years. They really did nothing in the off season to improve their flaws. Met’s fans aren’t going to be won over by a short winning streak. I think they will wait on the side lines for awhile to determine if they are for real or not.
It’s April and it’s New York. Not everyone wants to sit outside for at least 4 hours. Also, what JI said.
I was there today…let me tell you, I don’t even mind the emptiness. I mind the fact that the fans that do show up are dead inside. SCREAM A LITTLE BIT!!! ITS A BALLGAME!!!
Wilpon’s will never get another dollar of my money.
I did go to the first game on this homestand, and it was my third of the year. But the weather’s been pretty mediocre and the tickets are not exactly cheap.
Good responses guys. Seems to be a mix of weather, prices, and not wanting to get your heart broken. @Matthew L. Can you elaborate on that? There has been quite a bit of anger directed at the Wilpons for various reasons. But right now they are putting a decent product on the field, no?
About 30 years ago the Yankees after several bad years finally turned it around. Since it was unexpected, preseason ticket sales were poor. Even though they played well all season, the attendance never picked up to where the team deserved. It changed was the following year. Due to increased expectations, the preseason sales were solid and the attendance was much better. Even if The Mets play well all season the attendance will be less than what you would expect, but next year will have huge attendance numbers.
Because the artificial noise at CitiField is so bad that no one can hear each other, so if you can’t talk at a ballgame, what’s the point of going?
