Citi Field outfield getting a little smaller

According to a report in the New York Daily News today, the Mets organization is lowering the wall in front of the Home Run Apple at Citi Field.
The padded wall in front of the famous feature from Shea Stadium will be 8 feet shorter. The padding had been 16 feet tall in front of the apple, presumably to help product its side.
All of the other dimensions of the ballpark will remain the same for now. Lowering this portion isn’t likely to help increase the number of home runs hit out of the park by a whole lot. I’d be surprised if five home runs were hit in that specific location. What do you think?
