The everyday player who has not had an injury in his Major League career has truly become a Met now. Jeff Francoeur has joined a bevy of other Mets who have been hurt this year. Francoeur has suffered a torn ligament in the thumb of his non-throwing hand. He sustained it while making a diving catch in the ninth inning of yesterday’s game.
It’s the same injury that Alex Cora just had surgery for. Hopefully, Francoeur won’t need surgery, at least until the end of the season. You just can’t be a true Met this year until you’ve been injured.
