A day after pitching a scoreless 1-2-3 inning, Bill Wagner has reportedly been claimed off waivers, according to SI.com. The claiming team’s name hasn’t been released yet. It would have to assume the rest of Wagner’s contract this year, which is about $2.7 million.
Wagner has a no-trade clause but he has indicated he wouldn’t oppose a trade to a team in the playoff race, especially one that could utilize him as a closer.
