The Mets hope to win the series against the Giants tonight and just their eighth game of the month. They’ll have to do without David Wright for the next two weeks. Even though he’s with the team and feeling much better, Wright is not due to come off the disabled list until Aug. 31. For now, he’ll be a spectator and the Mets’ biggest fan as he roots on his teammates.
Hernandez tries to build on the walk-off win yesterday, but he’s been pummeled in his last two games, allowing 12 runs in nine total innings. He’s got to do a lot better with the Mets down one of their best hitters. Thankfully, Francoeur has picked up the slack.
With the Mets 12 games out in the division and 9.5 out of the Wild Card, they’re pretty much just playing not to be embarrassed. Right now, I’d take that.
