It was Bobby Parnell’s second outing as a starting pitcher, and it was almost three times longer than his first. This time Parnell was brilliant as he pitched six shut-out innings against the San Francisco Giants on Friday night. The Mets completely shut down the Giants’ offense with a 3-0 win.
It was nice to see Parnell get the win and have a positive outing. If he can keep this up, we could be looking at a reliable fifth starter for 2010. Or, dare I say, a No. 3 or 4 starter? The caveat is the Giants are a relatively light-hitting team, hovering around the Mets for the fewest team home runs in the league.
