The Mets got back on track in Sunday’s game against the Padres as Johan Santana pitched eight solid innings and contributed an RBI, a walk and two hits to his own effort. He allowed only the one run, as compared to his last outing when he gave up five. The Mets won at PETCO Park for the first time in nine attempts.
Francisco Rodriguez came into the game in a non-save situation but looked a lot sharper than he did in his previous two appearances. His fastball had more zip on it, hitting 93-94 mph on the radar gun. He allowed only one base runner before retiring the last batter.
