Mets General Manager Omar Minaya reported in the fourth inning of tonight’s game that the Wilpons still want Jerry Manuel and Minaya where they are for the rest of the year. There had been a lot of speculation lately as to their job security with the bevy of injuries that have befallen the Mets players and their standing in the division.
You can’t blame MInaya or Manuel for the injuries that are out of their control. What you can control is how you deal with those injuries. For that, someone should be held accountable, whether it’s the medical staff or someone else.
Manuel said in the post-game press conference that it was enjoyable news, but not something he was thinking about. Whether you believe him or not is a different story.
