Fernando Martinez lands on the disabled list

Add one more to the roster of the disabled list, which now almost equals an entire 25-man squad, it seems. Fernando Martinez has been placed on the DL retroactive to July 4 with what has been diagnosed as inflammation in the right knee.
Argenis Reyes, who was sent down to Triple-A Buffalo just the day before to make room for Oliver Perez, returns to the team. Reyes will once again get the chance to try to make his mark in the big leagues. He hasn’t been successful so far getting only one hit in 14 attempts.
Once again, the Mets have to go to a depleted farm system. When the best you can do is Reyes, it shows how weak your farm system is.
