No MRI for Sheffield

According to The New York Post, Gary Sheffield did not receive an MRI after a team doctor took a look at the outfielder’s right knee and decided it wasn’t necessary. Sheffield had been complaining of pain behind the knee since May.
Sheffield will continue to platoon in the outfield after the interleague series with the Baltimore Orioles ends on Thursday, according to the Post report.
The Mets medical staff has been questionable at best all season with the various injuries that have plagued the players. Let’s hope they got this one right and won’t do more harm than good.
