Sorry, folks. No game tonight, but maybe it’s a blessing in disguise. This allows the Mets to take a breather and rest those weary muscles. Carlos Beltran was scheduled to return to the lineup tonight, but I’m sure one more day of rest won’t hurt. It’ll give him a chance to eat something, maybe work out some and try to build his strength back.
The Mets will resume their series with the Pirates at 12:35 p.m. Thursday. No word yet on when they’ll reschedule today’s game or whether or not tonight’s starter Mike Pelfrey will be pushed back a day. My preference is to let Pelfrey pitch Thursday and skip Tim Redding’s turn in the rotation. Let him pitch a bullpen session to see if he can work out some of his issues before he takes the mound in front of live opposition.
Who’s with me?
