Nelson Figueroa, who made one start in place of Mike Pelfrey and pitched decently, will probably refuse to be sent down to Triple-A Buffalo and plans to announce he will become a free agent, according to The Daily News.
Figueroa, whose wife reportedly shared her disapproval of the way the Mets handled her husband’s professional career, bounced around with assorted teams before joining the Mets in 2008. He made various spot starts last year, with an overall 3-3 record and 4.57 ERA.
