The two Opening Day tickets that were part of disgraced Ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff’s season ticket package were purchased for $7,500 after almost doubling in price in the final two hours of the eBay auction.
The face value of each ticket was $500. The rest of the tickets will be auctioned in mid-April, with proceeds from the auction going to help pay back investors. It’s a drop in the bucket but I guess every penny helps.
I’m a huge Mets fan, but come on. I wouldn’t have paid $750 for those tickets, even if they are for seats right behind the Mets dugout. I hope whoever won the auction for those Opening Day tickets makes every second tonight worth it. I’d try to get every autograph and stay in my seats from now until they shut the lights off for that kind of money.
