Billy Wagner is apparently planning to throw off a mound in St. Port Lucie on Tuesday, according to Mets.com. He said he hopes to be back with the Mets in July or August. If that’s the case, it leaves an interesting question of where he could fit into the revamped bullpen. There are already two closers on the roster. What would the Mets do with a third?
What do you think the Mets should do with Wagner if he’s able to come back when he says he will? Trade him? Lefty specialist like Pedro Feliciano since there is only one lefty in the bullpen? Set-up man and push Putz down?
In other news, Mets.com is also reporting that Gary Sheffield might be in the lineup on Sunday vs. the Florida Marlins. We’ll see how he does.
