Sports Illustrated’s Tom Verducci puts Mets No. 2 starter Mike Pelfrey on the list of pitchers who will be injured this year. He says hurlers who are under age 25 and have their workload increased by 30 or more innings are prone to it. Here’s his story.
Pelfrey is tall, 6’7”, but the bigger they are, the harder they can fall, or get hurt. It would surely hurt the Mets rotation if he were to go down. Backing up Verducci’s prediction is the fact that he had the Yankees’ Ian Kennedy on the list last year. The once promising starter not only was on the disabled list for an extended period of time but he didn’t even make the big league roster this year.
Do you give much credence to Verducci’s prognostication?
