We should trade wright while he still has some value. I would trade him for Longoria straight up and you could most likely get a prospect or two for him as well. The mets should do this while they still can.”
What are your thoughts about this proposal? It is an interesting idea, but I think Wright brings a lot more than just stats and production to the team. He’s become the face of the franchise more so than any other player. Other players look to him for leadership and as a model of how to handle themselves both on and off the field.
His Wright Foundation is well known in the city’s charity circles. He’s become the Mets’ version of Derek Jeter. I don’t believe Jeter’s done as much for charity at such a young age as Wright has. For these reasons, I don’t think Mets management would ever even consider the thought. That, and women love him.
But, I might be wrong. Thoughts?
