The Mets were finally able to best the Washington Nationals in a game that saw David Wright return to the lineup and starter Johan Santana pitching into the seventh inning.
Santana was great, allowing only one run and four hits and striking out six. He was the first Mets pitcher to go more than six innings.
At the plate, the Mets had nine hits. Daniel Murphy led the team, going 3-for-4, with two RBI. Carlos Delgado was the only other Met to have more than one hit, one a double. Fernando Tatis had the other two RBI. Wright was 1-for-4, and Carlos Beltran had a double.
The Mets next face the Marlins at 1:10 p.m. Saturday in St. Port Lucie.
