For the second consecutive season, outfielder Angel Pagan will be out of commission due to an injury, this time because of a bone spur in his right elbow, according to MLB.com. His return and availability is expected sometime in May.
Pagan was battling with Jeremy Reed and some others for one of the outfield positions. He showed some promise by hitting almost .500 in his first 15 at-bats in Spring Training.
Pagan was a bright spot in 2008, with a .275 batting average, before a torn labrum in his left shoulder forced him to have surgery and waylaid him for the rest of the year.
