RAIN, RAIN, GO AWAY: It’s raining pretty hard here in Flushing. The tarp is on the field and most of the fans are mobbing the concourses. A few brave souls are outside under the safe haven of umbrella and/or ponchos. A few braver souls are sitting patiently in their seats.
They’ll probably have to stay patient. This one won’t start on time. The Mets expect it to be delayed by about an hour.
PLAY-IN GAME TBD: As for tomorrow (if there is a tomorrow), the time has not been set yet. Reports have indicated TBS will broadcast the game at night, but a Met spokesman said that won’t be determined until later today. There are many factors — even a couple beyond the fate of the Mets and Brewers. The time of the game may also be determined by what happens in Chicago (on the South Side) and Minnesota. If the White Sox are 1/2 game behind or ahead after today, they’ll have to meet Detroit tomorrow for a makeup game.
TICKETS: The Mets have yet to decide a plan for selling/distributing tickets. We will have more on that after the game if necessary.
THIS DOCTOR MAKES HOUSE CALLS: Doc Gooden is in the house today. He and Tom Seaver are on SNY right now. … When the time comes later — as long as the mood is still festive — I can’t imagine anyone will earn a better reception than Doc.
