I like Manuel but if he had to go to get rid of Minaya I say let him go. The Mets need a fearless, cocky hitter to plug in the 3 hole to play LF (Manny or Maglio?) a righty platoon for LF to compliment Church, who look helpless against lefties, a righty 1B to compliment Delgado, two starters (let Perez go and get Lowe and his groundball rate?), and a bullpen. This much change means the GM has to accept that his previous moves have been flawed. Omar left the opposite impression with his comments. He must go because incremental change will only ensure more "close but not enough" September results.

Wilpon thinks this team overachieved this year? f### you Mr. Wilpon.

Your GM built this star laden team of overachievers. With guys like Reyes, Wright, Delgado, Beltran, Santana this team should have been a runaway winner of the NL East.

Injuries to:
Alou who shouldnt have been back or expected to play 100 games.

Castillo who should have never been resigned.

El Duque. ugh

Church who has been an average player his whole career.

Wagner, who was already fading and choking enough on his own.

Pedro, who shouldnt have been expected to be an effective pitcher.

The only injury that Minaya couldnt have done anything about was Maine. His injury did hurt us. All the others Minaya put himself in a bad position. We didnt lose any stars, we lost mediocre and injury prone players.

Fire Minaya. Fire the whole coaching staff. Start fresh in '09.

Manuel did a good job with what he had. It bothers me that Miniya will keep his job. He traded away two better than average relievers (Bell & Lindstrom) for a bag of balls and didn't replace them and as a result had no bullpen to speak of for the final two months of the season for two years. His big positve moves amount to throwing money at free agents and trades for Maine and Perez. Overall his trades have been a wash and his free agent signings have been a mixed bag. Don't forget he failed to sign Delgado in 2006 when the team could have really used him in the playofs and he gave a big contract to an obviously fading second baseman in 2008. Firing Omar would not hurt this organization. Omar has built a team of stat pading position players that fail open under pressure. This season was over in game 3 against the Cubs. When Murphy tripled with no outs and the #3 hitter looked like an uncomposed rookie, and no one else could rise to the occasion; it was apparent this team had no business being in the playoffs. Its time to rebuild. The only non-tradable players should be Beltran, Reyes (no replacemnt available) and Santana. David Wright demonstrated that he is a very good complimentary player, but will not carry a team in pressure situations. Great stat padding against poor pitching but unable to perform under pressure against even average pitching.

Leads blown by the same team twice in two years with two different managers. Cleary not the managers fault. Manuel did a good job. It's not him that needs to go.

good move! Manuel did a exellent job.. He turned around a team that was going for last place not a playoff birth.. We didn't reach our goal but we sure came close injuries and all.. As much as I am In pain. Over this season I can't help to get excited and ready for 09.. We need to address the bullpen issues I feel omar should keep joe smith, pedro feliciano and then totally wipe the rest of the bullpen! We should go and put a serious bid for k-rod! We need to dangle castillo in the trade market and try to get a outfilder or a setup man for him.. Murphy should get a shot at secound which is his natural position. Delgado earned to get one more year and I think it's time to say goodbye to alou. A new ball park and some money can attract some free agents! We don't have to do much but if we target what we need. We will be in good shape. Sad that it's over but let's see what we can do in 09.. See ya at citi field... Good bye shea!
