Seaver just threw out the final pitch at Shea to Piazza, who received the loudest ovation among all the players invited today.
The players are now walking around the warning track and back into the bullpens, which is where they were introduced when the ceremony starter about 50 minutes ago.
There were loud ovations, but few were sustained. Obviously, the farewell ceremony was emotional for some, but it was stained for many by today’s result.

I didn’t hear them mention Roger McDowell during the bit where they read off names of former Mets who couldn’t be there. He was a significant part of the 1986 championship. Did I miss it, or did they do to him what the Yankees did to Joe Torre?
Melissa…You’re right. Others not in the house were mentioned; McDowell wasn’t one of them.
Wouldn’t it have been a better idea to have the ceremony before the game?
