Today in The Journal News or at www.LoHud.com/sports, you can read about the Mets’ large comeback win last night against Chicago, keeping them tied with Milwaukee in the wild-card race and pulling them to one game back of the Phillies with three to play. There are also details about what would happen if there’s a dead heat.
There’s also a Mets notebook with items on Pedro Martinez acknowledging the fans in case it was his last start in this uniform, Ramon Martinez’s surprise start at second, John Maine looking like he’s out of the bullpen picture, Johan Santana staying on turn, and the zero-tolerance policy in this final weekend at Shea. No souvenir hunting. No vandalism. More police, including plainclothes cops, are being assigned.
So the Marlins are in for the final series. They ended it for the Mets here last year, and they plan on playing their regulars to try to play spoilers again.
Now we’ll see if the rain impacts things for tonight.

I’m starting to really hate these Marlins….jealous bastards that play in front of 1,500 people a game (and half are usually for the other team). Ok so the Brewers will play the Iowa Cubs and the Mets will play the andro-induced Marlins…so be it. Let’s stomp on their freakin’ heads!
