Well, the possible NL MVP (don’t you think if the Mets win the division it should be Carlos Delgado?) did it again, full count, two out, tiebreaking grand slam in the third. The inning probably never would have developed against Carlos Zambrano if Argenis Reyes didn’t get his single with one out and Oliver Perez up next. Reyes broke an 0-for-25 skid with that hit.
Now we’ll see if Perez can continue to do his part.
Update, 8:45: Perez couldn’t do his part. Jerry Manuel delivered a quick hook with one out in the fifth and two in scoring position in a 5-3 game, but he can’t fool around. Yet would you rather have Perez in there or the bullpen? Just as I type that, Duaner Sanchez gives up a hit, Daniel Murphy makes an error on the play, and it’s tied. It was just 5-1. And Philly is losing 6-3 in the fifth against the Braves.
