Carlos Delgado got the Mets off to a good start, lining an RBI double to right in the top of the first off rookie James Parr. That marked career hit No. 2,000. Parr certainly had some control issues in the two-run inning – three walks, including one to Luis Castillo with the bases loaded. Parr started his Braves career this month with 14 1/3 scoreless innings. This was his fourth big-league start and outing after being called up Sept. 2. He was 13-7 with a 3.52 ERA in 28 games (26 of them starts) combined at Double-A and Triple-A this season.
Update, 3:45 Well, Parr didn’t make it out of the second. But Mike Pelfrey wasn’t at his best early on, either. But he’s kept it together for six despite not having his best material, two runs, six hits.
It’s amazing sometimes, though, how the Mets score early and then just stop hitting.

This team is an embarasssment. They cannot beat the Braves no matter how bad they are. It is like the bullpen is trying to be as ineffective as possible. Omar Minaya should be disgraced for already saying he will go with internal bullpen options in 09’.I have never seen a bullpen be so worthless everytime out. Bullpens this bad are usually on teams that dont even sniff the playoffs. They have no fight, they lay down when they are down and they give away leads as often as they can. If the bullpen is not completely revamped I will never watch this team. Why would a pitcher come here? To work 7 innings and then hand it off to one player after another who throws the game away? This team sucks. Omar sucks. Jerry is a good manager but this is the most talentless group of pitchers in a bullpen I have ever seen. They suck. Give up now because they will let you down. Even if they made the playoffs they will be eliminated because they will have to play good teams. They are only int he race because the Brewers are collapsing. They have given away 4 of thier last 6 games against the Braves, all games they should have won. Thats all you can believe in only thing you gotta believe in is that you’ll be let down over and over again. They SUCK. GIVE UP!!!!!
Thanks goes to the bullpens for doing what they do best. Losing!
The entire bullpen should be fired along with Minaya when the season ends THIS WEEK, AND IT WILL END THIS WEEK thanks to the crappy pen.
