Some fans have wanted to see what Bobby Parnell can do on the mound. Jerry Manuel is at least thinking about Parnell now after what he’s seen lately from others. He plans on having the heretofore unused rookie call-up out to pitch in an early BP session tomorrow, so he can see what the kid looks like throwing to hitters. Then Manuel can decide if he should trust his power arm in a meaningful game. He didn’t sound interested in seeing what veteran Al Reyes can do, though.
That was a great catch by Willie Harris in left to rob Tatis in the second. Harris seems to have that habit against the Mets. Pedro was fortunate to get out of the first with just one run scoring after a first-and-third, no-out spot. They sure need a better game from him than last time.
Update, 8:35: John Lannan is an underrated lefty. But one hit through five innings for the Mets when these games mean so much?
