The Mets salvaged a split with the Braves last night, shaking off a difficult loss with Johan Santana on the mound by winning behind Jonathon Niese. The rookie won his first-ever game with eight shutout innings. Alex Myers has the story.
In the notebook, there’s news of Brian Schneider’s return, and Ramon Castro’s reappearance — at least at the plate.

Wow, this place is kind of dead without a single polarizing voice as its host… as wrong as Delcos was to constantly be throwing developing young talent under the bus, at least it was something to react against.
Sadly, this place seems… pretty dead now.
Anyhow, Brandon Knight? REALLY? Is this really what it has come to, Brandon freaking Knight? Triple-A orgfiller with inflated pitching numbers from pitching to Triple-A orgfiller scrubs… trotted out like a Lifetime movie of the week human interest story for “hanging on” in the minors and then sucked deep and hard as a major league starter Brandon Knight?
Couldn’t even get double-A kids from Taiwan out in the Olympics Brandon Knight?
Yikes. Chalk a half-game in the standings down, I guess.
Time for you Mike C to join your nemesis Delcos at his new home, with everyone else: http://www.nymetsreport.com/
You are missed.
