Brian Schneider has been scratched from the lineup tonight with bursitis in his left knee. Schneider said he has a little extra fluid in the bursa sac in the top of the knee, but he indicated it’s not serious and he expects
“Catchers get it at the top of the knee because of the pounding,” Schneider said. “I never had it as bad as it is — not that it’s terrible. But when I go down to block a ball, you feel it.
“They recommended to take a day and let it calm down,” said Schneider who said he could have played if this was Game 1 of the playoffs.
Robinson Cancel will catch tonight. Ramon Castro was activated from the disabled list.

hey Brian, please keep us updated on the status of the game possibly being rained out. I have tickets to tonights game but i dont want to make the trip out to the park if its going to be rained out.

Hopefully the off day helps Schneider. His bat hass been a pleasant surpise for the last month or so. His last 30 days, he’s tied with Wright for 3rd on the Mets in HRs (5) and RBI (15). DelGODo is 1st of course, with 10 and 28 and Beltran is hot too with 7 and 23. Delgado leads the NL in both categories and Beltran is 7th in HRs and 6th in RBIs.
