Today in The Journal News and on LoHud.com we have the account of Carlos Delgado putting on another scoreboard-denting MVP-like power show at Shea last night. Plus, there’s a Mets notebook that includes items on Billy Wagner vowing to come back to pitch someday and somewhere, on some alleged very bad behavior by Ambiorix Burgos and on the short-term future for John Maine, among other things. Check it all out.
Wagner is scheduled to have his Tommy John surgery today.
More from Shea later today.

Maybe no one is coming to the blog since the poll to the right questions who the Mets MVP is this year and does not include the National League’s MVP! Just a thought…..
Hey Brian-
Any word on Al Reyes and why we haven’t seen him even warming up at all? I thought he could be a real good addition down the stretch…I bet he’s really kicking himself for signing here for, in his words, the chance to pitch in a pennant race.
I’d wonder if there is something more to Reyes, but Manual has been reluctant to try guys he hasnt seen before…
If the Mets could ever play a game they wasnt close they could try some different guys. Of course using the same guys is part of the reason they keep giving away leads before they can get big enough.
They had a couple 9th innings where Parnell warmed up with a 5 or 6 run lead but then Manual went to someone he would use in closer situations.
