Pelfrey’s poor start

Mike Pelfrey had turned in five straight quality starts, but this wasn’t a good one against the Nationals, leaving after five, allowing five runs, eight hits and two walks while also hitting Elijah Dukes in the fifth.
It looked like Dukes overreacted in the fourth when the first-pitch fastball came inside and he started yelling at Pelfrey; it wasn’t that blatant a brushback pitch, although it did come in the at-bat after his long homer. Pelfrey, you’ll recall, ticked off Cody Ross a couple of starts back in Florida. Pelfrey didn’t strike out anybody in this start and only 56 of his 96 pitches went for strikes. They’ll need better than this going forward.

i know why no one is here too painful to watch
If the playoffs started today, how could you justify a bullpen spot for Heilman?
Watch, the Mets will need that. No question the ninth will be hairy.
I agree JM. As bad as Heilman has been, I never thought he’d sink this far. If I were a betting man, I’d say the Mets are finished with Heilman.
