Delgado swats two more: Mets 10, Nats 8

September
10

Do the Mets get sick of talking about Carlos Delgado’s hot streak? Not on nights like this.

Delgado hit his 23rd and 24th homers since June 27 in tonight’s comeback win, including No. 466, which moved him past Dave Winfield and into 30th place on the all-time list.

It’s late, so before I run why don’t you take a gander at the following facts and figures from tonight:
— Next up for Delgado are Willie Stargell and Stan Musial, who each have 475 homers
— This was the first time Delgado had put together consecutive multi-homer games in his career
— Delgado now has 24 HRs and 68 RBI since June 27
— Carlos Beltran, Delgado and David Wright now have 100 RBI. It’s only the third time in club history three players have had 100 RBI in the same year. These same guys did it in 2006, and Robin Ventura, Mike Piazza and Edgardo Alfonzo did it in 1999.
— Delgado has seven multi-homer games this year. He tied Dave Kingman (1976) for the most in one year in club history.
— Oliver Perez fell to 3-6 with a 7.07 ERA against teams below .500. Again, how?
— Brian Stokes has now tossed 12 straight scoreless innings of work.

  1. Who Needs Lohan

Where did everyone go on this blog? Is it a protest because of JD? Or is there just nothing to complain about anymore so no one comes around to bitch? I just dont get it…..

On a more positive note, I am very glad to see that the Delgado for MVP campaign which I take full credit for starting three weeks ago is cathcing on. Isnt it funny how we all wanted him released in May/June (myself included)? My wife tells me i am dilusional that I truly believe that I started it, but I believe what I want to believe!
