Wagner’s setback/Game 1 stuff/Game 2 lineup

Posted by: Brian Heyman - Posted in Uncategorized on Sep 07, 2008

Billy Wagner tried to get in a simulated game between games of the doubleheader before returning to the bullpen this week. It didn’t go well. The closer had a setback. “If you want to call it that,” Omar Minaya said. Wagner walked off after his 13th pitch. He hit Gustavo Molina, his lone batter, in the foot with what appeared to be a slider. Minaya said Wagner felt discomfort in his troublesome elbow, and that he will be reevaluated by a doctor tomorrow. It doesn’t sound like he’s returning this week. It’s safe to wonder about the rest of the season. “We’ll continue to be conservative,” Minaya said.

Can they win this thing without him? What do you think?

After the 6-2 loss, Jerry Manuel said the Mets picked the wrong time to start playing bad baseball. Pedro said he felt better this time than last when he couldn’t get loose, and that he tried his hardest. Wright said Moyer is a tough guy for an aggressive team, and that no thoughts of last September’s collapse have crept in. Now it’s Santana vs. Hamels on Johan Santana Bobblehead Night.

Here’s the Mets’ lineup for Game 2:
Reyes
Church
Wright
Beltran
Delgado
Tatis
Easley
Schneider
Santana

Mets need this game, if not from a psychological standpoint, then b/c you’d much rather be up 2 games than none.

I still havent decided on whether to post here anymore. Delcos has a lot of support. But this site provides a lot of up to date info, like on Wagner that JD cant at this time, We all hate what Gannett did to John, But you guys are trying hard, and shouldnt be punished for what your employers did. I will continue to monitor this situation.
