All about the Mets

Today in The Journal News…mostly

August
28

The guy was once your favorite whipping boy, but Carlos Delgado continued to delight Mets fans by leading them to a rousing 6-3 victory over rival Philly at Citizens Bank Park last night. Oh yeah: Daniel Murphy had something to do with it, too.

The Mets split their series with the Phils and regained a half-game lead in the NL East, but all is not perfect. Billy Wagner remains week-to-week, and Ramon Castro went on the DL. Among other notes in yesterday’s notebook were: promotions for Robinson Cancel and Nelson Figueroa; a return to the minors for Ricardo Rincon; and a return to action for Marlon Anderson.

Lastly, from the Philly side, Jimmy Rollins bemoaned the Mets antics following a home run…sort of. J-Roll, who has had a few choice words this year for the Phillie faithful, stopped short of criticizing the Mets’ method of celebration, but he basically got his point across anyway. Read on for yourself.
