1. Jerry Manuel didn’t commit yet to going with Oliver Perez on Friday and Mike Pelfrey on Saturday, but he said it looks like that is where the club is headed.
The next time they would need a starter is on Sept. 2 in Milwaukee. Manuel said that will come from within the system, perhaps a Sept. 1 callup. Sports Illustrated reported today that Jon Niese will be the man that night. He will make one more start at New Orleans before then.
2. Marlon Anderson is in Florida right now playing simulated games. He should return when the rosters expand on Sept. 1.
