The Mets pulled off a dramatic win in the bottom of the ninth as a desperate David Wright scored the winning run on Carlos Delgado’s fifth hit of the night.
Luis Ayala earned his first Mets’ win with 1 1/3 innings of relief. Carlos Delgado said Ayala has been like Cy Young his first two outings.
Sounds like Ryan Church may return tonight. So will Luis Castillo, but he won’t be activated until Jerry Manuel sees him workout. There are also updates on Carlos Beltran getting a day off and a deceased Mets employee being honored by the club.

david wright for mvp?
i know that this is from a few posts back, but…? wright is not even close to being the best at performing his job on his own team, that being driving in runs, hitting in the clutch, etc., etc. (ba/risp: .245 ops/risp: .720, these are way below average and way below any other mvp contenders stats listed yesterday.) granted he has alot of rbi’s, but so does beltran; it is because he gets so many chances with men on base.
reyes for mvp.
to drive home the point, beltran and wright are tied for the nl lead in ab with risp with 187.
How sweep it is. There is only one thing better than beating the hated braves and that is sweeping them.I really enjoy and look forward to this all year.go mets
displaced, Reyes is as good a candidate as anyone, but considering his slow start and his penchant for errors early in the year, I don’t think he’ll win. Wright has produced a far higher OPS on the year based on his entire season. That’s the number that counts most. ABs with runners in scoring position are few and far between. Wright has been better on the season as a whole.
I personally think his stiffest competition is from C.C. unless the Phils come back to win the division.
I agree with Josh’s point about Wright.
While Reyes and Wright both can be considered, Wright is clearly the team’s leader.
